Since 1990, katoomba youth leadership conference (kylc) has been training Christians in youth leadership. This year, kylc changes its name to next generation to reflect the introduction of a Children's Ministry stream. This unique conference has been so popular that is has been replicated around Australia and the world.
next generation is a residential conference for those involved (or wishing to be) in the teaching of the next generation of Christians.
For the first time ever, the conference will have both a Youth and Children's Ministry stream.
next generation 2009: At the heart of what the Bible teaches about leadership, is the necessity of leaders having a Spirit Empowered Life. It is not an optional extra, like many of the leadership buzz words that have emerged in recent years. Yet, there is often much confusion about how to have a Spirit Empowered Life. This year, in the unique context of our leadership training program, next generation will look at what the Bible says about this unique foundation for any Christian leadership.

Details: for John Milton’s 400th anniversary
Christ Church St Laurence, George St near Railway Square.
Free.
John Milton, born in London on 9 December 1608, is a towering figure in English literature and a major figure in the history of English-speaking Protestantism.
It is said that for centuries the books that could be found in almost every English-speaking home were the Bible, Bunyan’s Pilgrim’s Progress, and Milton’s Paradise Lost.
The 400th anniversary of Milton’s birth will be marked by a programme of readings from Paradise Lost at Christ Church St Laurence, George St near Railway Square, on Thursday 27 November from 6.30 to 8.00 pm, preceded by refreshments in the hall from 5.45 pm.
The readings will be introduced by the Milton scholar Dr Beverley Sherry, and readers will include Milton specialists and parishioners. By way of introducing Paradise Lost, Dr Sherry observes: ‘Taking the slender biblical story of the garden of Eden, Milton created a vast dramatic epic, soaring in its imaginative power and sheer sound and focusing upon Adam and Eve as the archetypal man and woman. At its heart, it is a weird and wonderful representation of how human beings got to be the way we are and how our world got to be the way it is. That is why Milton matters in 2008 as in 1608.’
